Lewis Lamont Smith

Lewis L. “Lou” Smith is a graduate of Dillard University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.  He has worked in politics, law, and government for more than thirty-five years. Lou has had the opportunity to serve in many capacities, including as Legislative Assistant to a senior Member of the United States House of Representatives to working on behalf of tenants in Landlord-Tenant matters in Michigan’s 36th District Court.  Recently, he has begun a position as Legal Counsel, serving at the pleasure of the Deputy Chief Counsel, with the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network.  As that public service is a keystone in his work, Lou is grateful to be a part of helping to provide the services needed to create and sustain good mental health.  His varied interests include weightlifting, reading, jazz, and volunteering.  Lou’s motto is “Fear Not.”
