Derrick Mitchell was appointed Director of Supplier Diversity & Development for Lear Corporation in 2010. In his tenure, Lear’s Supplier Diversity program has increased in multiple facets; commitment, capacity, outreach, spend, personnel and process.
In 2016, Lear joined the Billion Dollar Roundtable, the preeminent advocacy organization that provides supply-chain diversity excellence. Lear’s diversity spend has increased an average of 17% CAGR (compound average growth rate) since 2009. The program increased the number of strategic suppliers by 40% and spends over $100M annually with 4 different minority groups: African Americans, Hispanics, Asian Indians, and Women.
A product of Detroit, Derrick attended U of D High School, proceeding on to MSU and earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering in 1993, and an MBA from Eli Broad Graduate School of Management (MSU) in 1997.
