David is the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s International Trade Development Manager responsible for Southeast Michigan region and based at Automation Alley. He is involved with helping Michigan companies expand their global reach by providing expertise and export assistance resources in support of their export objectives. With over 25 years of international trade experience in private industry, he has been providing export assistance to Michigan Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises since 2014.
Prior to joining MEDC, David served as President of InterClean Equipment, a specialized wash equipment manufacturer for large vehicle applications found in mining, oil, rail, defense, transit and trucking industries. Despite the depths of the economic downturn, InterClean enjoyed record growth and profits due to its strong export business, which comprised over 50% of the company’s revenues and profits. Consequently, David became engaged with both MEDC’s International Trade group and the U.S. Commercial Service, learning and benefiting first-hand by their programs.
David also spent 24 years working for General Motors in a variety of international planning roles. He managed global cross-functional teams developing advanced vehicle programs and bringing complex IT projects to a close. His foreign assignments included Argentina, where he helped GM reestablish its manufacturing and marketing presence, and Switzerland, where he was actively involved in Strategic Planning at GM’s European headquarters.
David holds a BBA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Detroit. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
