Charles Poon

Charles Poon is the Global Director for Electrified Systems Engineering, leading a diverse team of over 1000 engineers and specialists located in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.  His team is responsible for engineering and launching High Voltage Propulsion, Energy Storage, and Power Conversion for all Ford’s global platforms and vehicle lines such as the Mach E, eTransit and the best-selling Lightning.

Charles joined the Company as a Ford College Graduate 23 years ago and has worked in many areas of powertrain engineering.  He served in a number of leadership roles including Manager of Driveline Systems, Global Manager of Powertrain Quality, Global Manager of CAE, and most recently Chief Engineer of Powertrain Installed Systems.  In addition, Mr. Poon has been awarded patents for development of Ford’s first automatic transmission Shift by Wire System.  Mr. Poon holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Cornell University, and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Charles was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was 5 years old.  He is currently married and lives in Michigan with his wife and 2 children.  He loves to spend his free time running, biking, reading, traveling, and staring up at the stars.
