Tanya Nixon is Manager, National Supplier Diversity/Impact Spending at Kaiser Permanente, the $80-plus billion Oakland, California-based healthcare organization. One of the largest nonprofit healthcare plans in the United States, the organization serves over 12 million members, operates 39 hospitals and more than 700 medical offices, and employs over 270,000 personnel, including more than 80,000 physicians and nurses.
In her role, Nixon oversees and advocates for securing a portfolio of contracts worth more than $1 billion with diverse companies in the staffing, professional and business services and marketing sector. In 2014, she was part of the team that led the organization to become the first health care provider in the nation to sit at the prestigious Billion Dollar Roundtable. The BDR is a group of 28 Fortune 100 companies, including Microsoft, Dell, GM, Apple, Bank of America and others that spend $1 billion with diverse suppliers annually.
Nixon has more than fifteen years’ experience in supplier diversity. Before joining Kaiser Permanente, she was a Senior Supplier Diversity Consultant for Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
Known industry-wide for her strong leadership, passionate champion of supplier diversity, and her generosity in helping other large organizations develop and expand their own programs, Nixon serves as the Chair of Board Chairs (23 regional chairs) of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC); Board Chair of the Western Regional Minority Supplier Development Council; Board Member, Women’s Business Enterprise National Council-West (WBEC-West); Executive Board, NMSDC; and on the Governance Committee of the BDR.
She has been recognized by her peers for her outstanding achievements, including being the recipient of the 2019 Western Regional Minority Supplier Development Council President’s Award; 2019 Women’s Business Enterprise Council-West Community Impact Award; 2017 Supplier Diversity Leader of the Year; and the 2016 WRMSDC Partner of the Year.
Ms. Nixon holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, and a certificate in Human Resource Management.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, champagne tasting, riding her Peloton and has learned to live with being ignored by her cat, Santana.
