The Opportunity Zones Program is a tax incentive established by Congress in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. Its purpose is to foster investment in low-income and rural communities by allowing those who invest to defer and reduce their capital gains liability and potentially pay no tax on earnings from the investment.
There are 8,700 designated opportunity zones nationwide, and analysts predict that billions (and potentially trillions) of capital gains dollars will be invested into Opportunity Zones. December 31, 2019, is a critical date as it is the last day for investors to receive maximum benefit from this incentive. The benefit applies to real estate as well as business investments.
During Professional Development Day, a distinguished group of expert attorneys and a CPA will present the practical steps you should begin to consider as an investor OR as one seeking investment.
In fact, those seeking investors will have an opportunity to pitch to venture capitalists with funds earmarked for Opportunity Zones via our Special Opportunity Zones Matchmaker during the Business Fair (for more contact Daniel Jackson at [email protected].
